"The LCNC (Low-Code/No-Code) movement has created a logical fallacy. Many of these platforms are decades-old and, unlike their name suggests, still generate net new code. It’s simply not visible to the user. But ask anyone paying the technology fees, and you will see each application created—even within the same LCNC tool—is unique technical debt that you just introduced into the environment" - Unqork Founder and CEO, Gary Hoberman 📖 Check out the rest of Gary's thoughts on the role LCNC tools should—and shouldn’t—play in the industry in the article below❗️ #Unqork #codeless #futureproof

With years of experience in traditional development, I've seen firsthand the high costs and complexities involved. Past promises of low-cost development tools often fell short, but with the emergence of the no-code/low-code (NCLC) wave, there's a different air of potential. Here's my perspective on how this new buzzword is both being embraced and misconstrued, offering insight into what we can genuinely expect from NCLC and how best to navigate its possibilities. https://lnkd.in/e2zfV9qe

Do this experiment: put any, literally any, opinion about best coding practices out on a social platform. Watch the dissent roll in. Coding best practices and anti-patterns I think are a thing, but it's so subjective. The only consideration that matters: does your code work for the given situation? If it does, then it's "best". Anything beyond that is merely optimizing. Common with the dissent, I'm ready. #software #juniordeveloper

This is one of the best articles we’ve composed this year!💫 How comes? Because it was written by Oleksandr Obidniak, an MWDN Senior Software Developer with over 20 years in development and tech management and an extraordinary talent for explaining difficult things in simple words 🧩 In this piece, he talks about: ✔️ the differences between an engineer and a programmer, ✔️ the best backend technologies, ✔️ and a bit about what he expects of the future. Dive in to feel as though you’re having a live conversation with Oleksandr 👉 https://lnkd.in/dfgU9qtj #techinsights #softwaredevelopment #engineering #programming #futureoftech

How did I go from A - B with my contributions on GitHub (github.com/dcrebbin) 1) I switched from GitLab to Github 😂 2) I focused on 1 key success metric that I needed to try and do every single day: 1 Commit 3) I completely stopped doing game dev. For a giga ADHD'er like myself - making games has too open of a success & completion criteria with too many aspects you have to work on. (code, design, graphics, music, level design, testing etc etc) How do you define when a game is, done? Or even if a game is fun? These questions can put you into analysis paralysis and halt your velocity. VS a mobile or web app = the thing does the thing, the calculator outputs 2 if you do 1+1. SIMPLE 4) I got invited to an event at Google for Indigenous in tech and personally flew to Sydney just for it; this is hyper-specific but it was an ABSOLUTE game changer. (Howdy Davina, Alexandra, Jonathan, Tamina, Candice, Tyson, Rory + heaps more) Not just being around fellow tech nerds but being around fellow Mob. In my years of being in software - I've barely encountered any Mob in tech - let alone in Engineering! It blew my mind to the point that I was in complete awe with every single conversation I had!!! TLDR: it's a marathon and not a sprint - use the Pareto principle - read atomic habits - etc etc
